Particle-Effects and Shadows Demo
This research application was developed early in Rubicite's foray into Computer Game Development. It shows the use of mildly-complex particle effects including explosion shockwaves, explosion fire, explosion smoke, rocket-fire, rocket-fire exhaust smoke, and flaming chunks of debree with smoke. Also included is the use of realistic terrain-following shadows. 3D sillohuettes of the ships are projected through the terrain each frame and a stencil buffer is used to re-render the scene at the collision points with the lights turned down - the end result is terrain-following shadows with color.
