How to Install, Use, and Overclock an AntMiner U1 Bitcoin ASIC Miner in Windows

AntMiner U1 Mining with BFG Miner

You will be a happy Bitcoin miner if you use BFGMiner rather than CGMiner.
Setup is much easier and it becomes much simpler to mine with multiple AntMiner U1's.

1. Visit the BFGMiner Home Page. Download the version for your operating system. I chose Windows x64.

2. Unzip that file into a folder on your drive. Remember the location. For this example, I will assume G:/bfgminer

3. Download the CP210x USB driver from here - download the one for your operating system.

4. To install the CP210x USB Driver, select the x64.exe file for 64bit operating systems, or the x86.exe file for 32-bit operating systems.

5. Plug in your AntMiner U1 to a USB port on your computer. If you had already done this, unplug it and plug it back in.

6. Create a new text file and save it as AntMiner.CMD on your desktop.

7. The contents of this command file should be as follows:

g:\bfgminer\bfgminer.exe -o MY_POOL_URL:PORT -u MY_WORKER_NAME -p WORKER_PASSWORD -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0781

8. Double Click the command file. If you get any errors:
  • Confirm that your pool settings are correct
  • Confirm that the path to your bfgminer executable is correct in the command file
  • If it is still not working, 1) Stop BFGMiner 2) Unplug the AntMiner U1 3) Plug it back in 4) Start BFGMiner again.
  • If it is still not working, reboot your computer and consider trying a different USB port.
  • On rare occasion, the heatsink screws are loose on some AntMiner U1's. Make sure the screws are snug, but do not over-tighten and risk damage to your device.
  • If you are using a USB Hub that is overloaded, you may experience problems. Try using a different USB port to determine whether the problem is a bad USB port.

9. To overclock your AntMiner U1, you will change that last part of the AntMiner.CMD file. The number following "antminer:clock=x" will change.

  • For 1.6 GH/s, use 0781 (this is the default)
  • For 1.8 GH/s, use 0881
  • For 2.0 GH/s, use 0981
  • For 2.2 GH/s, use 0A81

Keep in mind that the AntMiner gets VERY hot VERY quickly when you overclock. Your must add additional cooling to your device. I recommend a strong fan blowing cool air directly onto your AntMiner U1. Make sure to have proper cooling, because you risk voiding your warranty by overclocking. With that said, all of my personal U1's are overclocked.

Good luck! Any questions, email me at brianwebster@gmail.com or oxygen728 on Ebay.
